The Research
Our study’s innovative methodology features five key components:
In-person focus groups and in-depth interviews to learn more about men and their attitudes about health, and to aid in the development of a comprehensive survey instrument
Survey administration to gather data on psychosocial and other important factors
Health questionnaires and cognitive assessment to assess cognitive functioning
Diffusion Tensor Magnetic Resonance Imaging (DT-MRI) and analysis to measure and identify objective markers of traumatic brain injury and general systemic aging
Blood and urine sample analysis using Leukocyte Telomere Length (LTL) technologies to measure and identify objective markers of traumatic brain injury and general systemic aging
Individuals will be compensated up to $175 for their participation in the complete study.
Data for the Brain Health & Aging Study will be collected at the Duke University in collaboration with DukeHealth and the Brain Imaging and Analysis Center, and analyzed and synthesized at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
